Sir
Michael Moe Angel from Moeishtowne
A 17" one of one Orange Tabby Puss 'N Boots
made by Mary Jardin Wimberley in 2004
Sir
Michael Moe Angel of Moeishtowne is a singularly
pleasant feline known throughout Europe for
his sunny outlook, his trusting nature, and
his love for all things living. He never tires
of discovering Nature's unexplored treasures
along each new path he walks. Never in a poor
or boastful mood, his bright smile, and lovely
traveling song cheers even the dreariest of
dispositions. Many speculate that he inherited
his faithful and tender temperament from his
well known, beloved Great Grandfather known
simply as, Mr. Moe.
He is often found by the roadside listening
to another's tale of woe, or with equally as
much attention to their dreams of glory. Once,
when he met a small mouse, named Smiley McGee
who had dreams of joining the circus, Sir Michael
not only listened but gave Smiley a lift. Thinking
ahead, Sir Michael taught the little mouse to
dance so that when he arrived, he would have
a marketable skill.
Perhaps he is so willing to help others realize
their dreams because he too, spends much time
wrapped up in his own dream world. In fact,
he reaches for the stars and the moon (you may
note that he has these very charms on his key
ring as well as the sun which most would agree
describes his disposition most effectively).
And those of the female persuasion agree that
as well as being a dreamer is also most "dreamy."
But Sir Michael finds it best to remain practical
to offset his dreaming tendency. So, he keeps
a close watch over his change purse and is never
too proud to beg. And with his good looks, charm,
and fine singing voice, I can assure you he
never goes hungry.
17" Michael is a one of a kind, jointed
standing cat with a double-jointed neck and
loc-lined tail. His fur is made of rusty gold
mohair with black fibers sprinkled throughout.
Mary has carefully scissor-sculpted as well
as needle sculpted his face, embroidered his
nose and mouth, and hand-painted his glass eyes
using her new technique which results in a luminescent
green glow. His eyes are encased in Mary's distinctive
ultra-suede eyelids. His feet and paws are also
needle-sculpted. He is airbrushed. His whiskers
are made of horsehair.
Sir Michael wears a formed wool felt hat with
an embroidered band and a yellow plume. His
colorful raw silk cape with gold metallic threads
is lined in navy wool and clasped with a silver
frog. His kerchief is finely woven Indian cotton
while his girdle is red silk brocade with a
bronze buckle. His black leather, velvet cuffed
boots-complete with red leather buckled bootstraps
finish his outfit and he carries a green, leather,
drawstring change purse- complete with beads,
coins, jewels and other assorted goodies.
Sir Michael is signed by Mary under his right
boot on his foot. And of course, no highwayman
is complete without his walking stick.
